Fiery SUV Rollover Crash Kills 9 Year Old and Severely Burns Her Mother

October 3, 2011 - According to reports a woman and her nine year old daughter were involved in a fiery rollover crash. According to the California Highway Patrol a crash on the 101 Ventura Freeway occurred at approximately 8:32 a.m. in Calabasas.

The accident occurred when the 27 year old woman’s SUV hit the rear end of a truck that either stopped or slowed down on the freeway. The woman lost control 95 Chrysler SUV she was driving. The impact caused the SUV to rollover and catch on fire, according to the California Highway Patrol. According to the Los Angeles Fire dispatcher, the nine year old was killed in the fiery rollover crash and her 27 year old mother was burned over approximately 80 percent of her body. The mother was transported to County-USC Medical Center for her severe burn injuries.

The 27 year old woman was identified as Gelani Taylor and her 9 year old daughter that was killed in the crash was identified as Jayla. According to the California Highway Patrol, there were several people that attempted to help the woman and her daughter from the wreckage.

According to the personal injury lawyer at Ehline Law Firm PC, one of the witnesses that attempted to help, Dale Johnson stated that the woman was rolling in pain and her skin was falling off after being removed from the vehicle due to the severe burn injuries.
