Parents: Summer months are the most dangerous for teen drivers

Summer is great. The weather is warm enough for the shorts and T-shirts, the water is warm enough for swimming (in some places), and teens get a whole three months out of school. But it turns out summer is incredibly dangerous for teen drivers and motorcyclists. This week, published AAA a new report shows that seven of the 10 most dangerous teen driving days occur the summer between Memorial Day and labor day. So in addition to enjoy their summer, teen driver summer, their knowledge of driver safety and even study their California driver license to take test can improve. Between 2005 and 2009 AAA reported 7,300 teen driver were killed car accidents in the summer. 422 Teens are killed in an average summer, compared to 363 teen monthly in the non-summer months deaths. "Parents should underestimate the crucial role that they play in their teens keep safe, especially in these months with high risk," said AAA Vice President public affairs Kathleen Marvaso. "The majority of the most dangerous days in the traditional summer holiday fall, parents must realize that it involved no summer break of safety and of the remaining and enforce rules with their teenager vigilant."

There are a number of actions that parents and teen can take drivers to reduce the likelihood of a teen car accident this summer. First of all write a parent-teen safe driving contract is to ensure that the drivers obey all traffic laws and dangerous decisions like the distracted driving steering clear. Because teens can get their drivers allow 16 and unlimited license at 18, the summer months are perfect for the increase of knowledge of the driver testing.
