Suffolk accused doctor of health privacy violation
Dr. Richard Kaye published allegedly, personal medical information about a patient, which has led to a charge in U.S. District Court in Norfolk.
This charge includes the health insurance portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which entered into force in 2003. In 2010 alone, approximately 9,000 injuries have been reported nationwide. Almost 30 percent of cases resulted in corrective action.
Dr. Kaye was accused, provide this information under false pretenses by claiming that his patient was "serious and immediate threat to the safety of the public". However, the indictment says otherwise and alludes, Dr. Kaye, knew that his patients are not such a threat.
The lawyer representing Dr. Kaye, said that his client is not guilty. When he is sentenced, he could seek prison with up to five years.
Dr. Kaye was reprimanded for the same incident, in May 2010 to Virginia member of medicine the situation examined. At that time he was a $5,000 fine and was placed on probation.
