Our Virginia legislators are there again.   In an attempt to generate money for the State budget, the Senate courts of Justice Committee has an invoice which court would significantly increase the cost of filing a civil action in Virginia.  It passed with a vote of 23-17. The Bill is now for the House position.

It is estimated that Senate Bill $329 million for Virginia would generate cash-short budget, with a lot going proceeds to law enforcement authorities.

Let me just say, I hope this Bill will be passed in the House.  If this is the case, Virginia of the highest submission would have fees in the country.  , Put it best when he said that the Bill would make it difficult for the "average man before the Court to go." Senator John S. Edwards

There is no question that would make this new filing fees it hard for individuals and small business owners to file complaints, even if they are only trying to collect money that is owed to you.  Some of the submission fees could even triple, costing in the upwards of a thousand dollars, a claim to pursue.

This would suggested that Bill significantly interfere with people looking to a civil lawsuit in Virginia file.  If you were injured due to carelessness of somebody else and are on the fence to a civil suit of pursing, you should get moving before this law is passed.
