Big Rig Crash Propels Vehicle on to Bart Tracks

September 21, 2011-A big rig collision caused a vehicle to be sent onto Bart tracks. According to the California Highway Patrol a collision occurred that was reported at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the I-580 Freeway. The accident according to California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Creel occurred in the vicinity of Dublin and Pleasanton in Alameda County, involving a big rig and two other vehicles.

The collision occurred when the big rig was switching lanes and collided with a Mazda and other vehicle. The collision caused the Mazda to crash through a fence and onto the Bart tracks located between West Dublin, Pleasonton and the Castro Valley stations.

According to the California Highway Patrol the three drivers were transported to the hospital from the accident scene and treated for what is believed to be minor injuries.

Bart stated there was a delay for passengers up to five minutes after the crash on the Dublin, Pleasanton line. The collision also blocked the two left lanes of the I-580 Freeway with debris for an extended amount of time.
