Motorcycle Accident Seattle | 2 Hurt in President Obama’s Motorcade
AppId is over the quota
As a Seattle motorcycle accident attorney, I know that even a highly proficient, experienced motorcycle rider can be involved in an accident from time to time, and because motorcycles lack many of the safety features of automobiles, the consequences can be severe. On Tuesday afternoon, according to WFTW in Orlando, FL, two police officers assigned to President Obama’s motorcade while he attended a fundraiser in Lake Mary, FL crashed while the President was leaving the event. One of the officers, a member of the Orlando Police department, rear-ended the other, a Seminole County Sheriff’s deputy. Both officers were thrown from their bikes and suffered minor injury. Because they were assigned to the rear of the motorcade, the accident did not affect the President’s schedule.
Over 4000 motorcyclists are killed annually across the country, with about 70 of those fatalities coming right here in Washington State. Being police officers on duty, we know that these two individuals were wearing helmets, which, along with low speed may have a lot to do with the fact that their injuries were minor. Here in Washington, motorcycle riders are required to wear helmets, but even with a helmet, there is substantial risk of serious injury in a motorcycle crash.
