An “accident reconstructionist” in the case says the Mercedes’ new car smell could be a possible contributing factor to the hit-and-run car accident, triggering the man to suddenly fall asleep at the wheel.
The fumes emitted from a “new car smell” are an allegedly toxic compound of volatile organic aromas that arise from the combination of new materials used to construct the interior of a vehicle. This supposedly toxic smell could have spurred Erzinger’s sudden urge to fall asleep at the wheel and lose control over his vehicle, causing him to strike bicyclist Steven Milo, a professor and liver transplant anesthesiologist.
Milo suffered substantial personal injury to include spinal cord injury, brain injury, and numerous other bodily injuries. His spinal cord leaks fluid now and he suffers from debilitating migraines, according to his doctor.
Developments in the case are still underway, and for now Erzinger is booked on two misdemeanors and a felony.

Hit-and-Run Driver Slams into Dallas Police Officer

Shortly after midnight on Sunday, a hit-and-run driver crashed head-on into a Dallas police officer at the intersection of Inwood Drive and Forest Lane. The police officer, Sr. Cpl. Charles Fleming, was in his squad car heading west on Forest Lane when the suspect ran through a red light and hit him.
The police car was crushed in the front but the suspect’s car, a solid blue pickup truck made in the late 90s, was also severely damaged. The police officer was taken to Baylor Hospital but has already been released and is recovering after this hit-and-run car accident.
Dallas police now need our help in locating the hit-and-run driver. Police said they are looking for a black male that is about 50 years old and driving a blue pickup truck. If you know anything about this car wreck, police are urging you to call DPD at 214-670-5817.

Jodi DeSoto, wife of the late Superior Court Judge Hector DeSoto, was killed in a hit-and-run on Saturday, September 17th. DeSoto was crossing the street when she was struck by an SUV at around 8 p.m. on Rhode Place in Belleville, New Jersey. The vehicle fled the scene and Jodi DeSoto was taken to Clara Maass Medical Center in New Jersey, but died later that evening due to injuries from the accident.
