With Halloween just around the corner, there are many fun family activities available to help you get ready for the spookiest night of the year. What better way to celebrate the fall season and Halloween than participating in the time-honored tradition of pumpkin carving? The New Jersey and Philadelphia areas are home to various pick-your-own pumpkin farms that offer fun, season-appropriate activities for both children and adults. Round up the family and head out to one of the following pumpkin farms for some fine holiday fun.

Alstede Farms offers pumpkin picking from mid-September to mid-November daily from 9 am to 7 pm. Their pick-your-own pumpkin price is $5 per person, and you get to enjoy a hay ride to and from the pumpkin patches. There are also two corn mazes (one especially for children) that you can have fun wandering through.

Horse Sleigh Farm offers pumpkin picking from September 17th to October 30th. On Friday and Saturday nights, Horse Sleigh Farm has a 10-acre corn maze, pumpkin picking, pumpkin painting and carving, pony rides, hay rides, food and beverages, hot air balloon rides, etc.

Running from September to the end of October, Terhune Orchards offers Family Fun Weekends every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am until 5 pm. You can participate in pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, pony rides, wagon rides, corn maze, food and beverage concessions, and live music.

Pumpkin picking at Johnson’s corner farm begins September 10th and goes until October 31st. They offer live music, moon bounce, hay rides, a food tent, a cornstalk maze, and a gift shop. Their hours are Monday through Friday 11 am – 5 pm and Saturday and Sunday 10 am – 5 pm.
