Weekend Crash Kills Four Fontana Teens
AppId is over the quota
October 24, 2011 - Teens and autos usually are a scary combination, as I have learned in my years of being an accident attorney for Los Angeles. And sure enough, according to reports four Fontana teenagers were killed in a weekend car crash.
According to the Fontana Police Department the four teenagers were in a Chrysler Sebring, when the crash occurred at approximately 1:07 a.m. The Sebring was traveling east on Foothill Boulevard at Lime Avenue, in what police believe was a high rate of speed, when the driver lost control and the vehicle veered from the eastbound lane into the westbound lanes.
It then crashed into a train trestle and became engulfed in flames. It is doubtful that anyone could have survived the burn injuries in my opinion, based upon the news reports. According to the Coroner’s office the teenagers were from Fontana and identified as driver of the Sebring Javier T. Contreras and passenger Raquel Rivera, age 18 who were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Padro Rivera age 18 and Rebecca Garcia age 16 were both extracted from the vehicle and transported to local hospitals. Padro Rivera died at the hospital at 2:00 a.m. and Rebecca Garcia died at 5:45 a.m. at the hospital. This is a wake up call to parents and families.
As a father of two, I am shocked at the loss of life and I assume the families will sue the driver of the car. But according to Fontana Police Sgt. the crash remains under investigation and believes that Rebecca Garcia and Raquel Garcia were related, but the exact relation was not immediately known. So I like to discuss these stories with families, so they can take opportunities to protect their children.
