According to Huntington Beach Police they responded to an collision at approximately 1:27 a.m.
The accident occurred on Beach Boulevard and Newman Avenue in Huntington Beach. The two vehicles involved were a Toyota Camry that was traveling north on Beach Boulevard, when it struck a Dodge Durango broadside that was traveling South on Beach Boulevard.
The driver of the Camry has been identified as Forrest Leland Kelly age 22 and the driver of the Dodge has been identified as 28 year old Thomas William Barrett of Costa Mesa. Barrett had three passengers inside of the Durango and was attempting to make a U-turn, when the crash occurred, according to Huntington Beach police.
The collision caused the Durago to flip over on the road and caused significant damage to both vehicles. According to Huntington Beach paramedics the driver and three passengers in the Dodge Durango and the driver from the Toyota Camry were transported to the hospital with injuries. All five of the collision victims were listed in stable condition.
According to Huntington Beach police the driver of the Camry identified as Forrest Leland Kelly was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Huntington Beach Two Vehicle Crash Injures Four People

October 6, 2011 - According to reports four people were injured in a two car collision in Huntington Beach. According to authorities the accident occurred at 8:18 a.m. at Edwards Street and Heil Avenue in Huntington Beach.
According to Huntington Beach Police Sgt. Rob Warden, it is believed that the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling eastbound on Heil Street and made a left turn at the intersection. This is when it collided with a Chevrolet Suburban that was traveling westbound on Heil Street.
Emergency crews were sent to the scene of the collision, according to MetroNet fire dispatch service. Three people were injured that were traveling in the Chevy Suburban and the driver of the Silverado pickup was injured.
The injured victims were all transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, according to authorities. Their injuries have not been released. September 29, 2011 - According to reports a woman that was involved in an accident leading to the death of an infant has filed a lawsuit against the city of Huntington Beach.
According to reports Caryl Johnson age 53 of Huntington Beach has filed a lawsuit against the city of Huntington Beach, stemming from a chain reaction accident last year. The accident killed an infant from Australia, while being pushed in a stroller by her mother.
Johnson’s lawsuit filed September 16th in Orange County Superior Court states her car was struck from behind while she was stopped by a distracted driver, causing her vehicle to be pushed into the crosswalk and into the pedestrians.
Johnson claims to have been permanently disabled and suffers emotional scars; her husband is also listed as a plaintiff in the suit and alleges loss of consortium against the defendants. He lists that his wife is unable to perform duties as a spouse, work or services. ?
According to police reports, September 7, 2010 at the time of the accident, Johnson complained of neck and back pain.
Johnson’s lawsuit is suing Huntington Beach for allegedly maintaining a dangerous intersection at the location where the accident occurred on Croupier Drive and Sprindale Street. The lawsuit also names driver Robert Anthony Casares, age 50 of Huntington Beach for negligence.
According to police reports Casares who was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on Springdale Drive, caused the car accident when he did not see Johnson stopped in front of him. Casares was fixing his laptop from falling off the seat after going over railroad tracks on Springdale, according to police reports. Huntington Beach Infant, Toddler and Father Injured In Crosswalk by Motorist

September 27, 2011 - According to reports a father, infant and toddler were injured at a Huntington Beach crosswalk by a motorist on Monday afternoon.
According to Huntington Beach Fire Department Deputy Fire Marshal Jeff Lopez, the accident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. at Central Park Drive and Edwards Street.
Huntington Beach Police Department Lt. Mike Reynolds said that investigators believe the man and two children were struck while in the crosswalk, by a motorist making a left hand turn onto the northbound lane of Edwards Street.
Lt. Reynolds stated the accident occurred at a four way stop, where the driver is believed not to have seen the pedestrians crossing from east to west on Edwards Street.
The father was holding a one year old at the time they were struck and a three year old was on a tricycle, Lt. Reynolds said. The father and one year old rolled over the hood of the vehicle sustaining minor injuries, including bruises.
The vehicle reached the top of the tricycle injuring the three year old that was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, according to Lt. Reynolds. Huntington Beach Police stated that a helicopter was placed on standby, but was later canceled. The father and two children were transported to UCI Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of their injuries.

Pedestrian Hit by Police Officer Speeding Sues Huntington Beach—Claims He was on Cell Phone

September 23, 2011 - A woman has filed a lawsuit charging that a police officer hit her, while speeding and talking on a cell phone in Huntington Beach, during a car crash.
The woman identified as 47 year old Catherine Sanchez filed a lawsuit Monday in Huntington Beach stemming from a May 30th incident. Sanchez claims she was crossing Main Street when she was hit by an officer that was speeding and talking on a cell phone.
According to attorney Dyke Huish, who represents Sanchez, she would have been injured much worse if her son had not pulled her out of the way, but suffered bruising and pain to her back when she was struck by the police car on the left side of her body. Sanchez has claimed emotional distress due to the incident.
Attorney Huish stated that the officer stopped only long enough to yell at Sanchez to get out of the way and left. The Huntington Beach Police Department is denying the incident took place, while Huish has stated he does not believe police officers should be using cell phones and should not be permitted to leave the scene.
According to Huntington Police Department Chief Ken Small a police report was not taken, since the officer did not leave the scene and the woman was not struck by the vehicle. Small has stated that Sanchez did not say she was hit by the police vehicle and witnesses have also stated she was not struck by the car and because of this a report was not taken.
