Seattle personal injury attorney | Father and child taken during the crossing Street

Seattle personal injury attorney | Father and child taken during the crossing Street

It is always sad to hear about a pedestrian is hit by a car in Seattle, but for the first time for months the driver currently held, to ensure that the person he was taken in order. As Seattle pedestrian accident injury lawyer I know that this summer was Washington numerous hit and-run accident, pedestrians cyclists who seriously injured and and dead in some tragic cases.

Last night a man and his child were injured critically when they were hit, tried, 15th Street cross Broadway. Police have stopped fault for the accident, but luckily the driver not clear yet who was so that he could question, what happened. The pedestrians, whose Name has not yet been released, carried his child across the street at 11: 30 at night, when they were struck by an oncoming vehicle. The father broke most of autumn for the child who suffered only, heavy head persistent small bruises, but the father and leg injuries and rushed to Harborview Medical Center had to be. A taxi driver on finished the scene, just a few minutes after the accident, when he saw the man on the ground are located and the child screaming next to his father.

Regardless of who's fault this tragic accident it is liable to pedestrians and drivers if you out on the street; especially late at night. Although pedestrians have the right-of-way in many cases it is necessary to exercise a high degree of caution, if you try to cross the street. Seattle lawyer my thoughts go as personal injury, going man and child who were injured, but also as the driver so no one with the intention of the collision with pedestrians. We all need to be more careful when we are likely to take the city streets, pedestrians and bicyclists have.

California bike lanes support Street safety

California bike lanes support Street safety

Posted on Thursday, July 7, 2011

It has become a kind of conventional wisdom that more cyclists on the road means more bicycle accidents. But in the last decade some of the bicycle-friendly cities of the country most showed that safety in numbers means that the cities with the most cyclists on the road the least bicycle accidents of witnesses. This is certainly the case in California, Davis, which is a Mecca for cyclists where 16% of the population to mountain bikes to work, and has a fatality rate 90 percent lower than the California average. Newer evidence suggests that in addition to safety in numbers, California cities of structural measures the cyclists benefit, keep safe.

For the journal environmental practice Wesley Marshall and Norman Garrick studied evidence from 24 medium-sized California cities with all types of bicycle use. In the Chamber, they found that the highest traffic had bike cities of the lowest mortality rate. Great bike cities, reported, for example, an average 2.5 deaths per 100,000 people, compared to 9 deaths per 100,000 bicycle used in the cities. What's more is surprising that Marshall and Garrick found that the mortality rate was much lower for all types of transport in the high traffic cycling cities

Of the report are clear about the disturbing nature of their findings: that with a few cyclists reports twice the cities so many deaths bike compared to the cities with many more cyclists. "That is, for all brave enough, cities use a bike in this low-biking" the authors write for Planetizen, "The risk of injury or death was astronomical." "Conversely, the traffic is risk death by bike bicycle friendly cities is much less than generally recognized."

This trend is not only for cities in California. Others combined traditional bike friendly cities such as Cambridge, Massachusetts and Portland, Oregon also an increase in passenger numbers have seen bicycle with a decline of bicycle deaths. This supports the concept that by means of improving the road safety could save lives and trim the city budget by a bunch in the long run.

New Street is used designs, reduce car crashes Georgia

New Street is used designs, reduce car crashes Georgia

Most people realize that careless and reckless drivers car accidents are a common cause of Georgia. Only a few would be surprised to hear that many serious car accidents cause defective cars and defective parts.

What is less obvious, that the design of a roadway can actually accidents contribute rather than prevent that this. The Georgia Department of transportation has begun, implement plans, change the design of the future Georgia roads to improve safety and reduce accident risks. We have an overview of some of the existing types of common risks associated with road design in Georgia and new innovative track designs pursued to Georgia car accidents reduce.

Design hazards that can cause car accidents in Atlanta and in very Georgia include:

Banks - these curves often find themselves on the street, and if these steep too steep or not are enough they can result in a risk to the driver. Barriers and guard - rails designed to organize transport and store it in its place, guard rails, median, curbs, and speed bumps can be placed very dangerous when incorrectly or badly designed. On and turn off ramps - increase, if it not for traffic, and disable it then move traffic jams to keep designed and backups can occur, which are the risk of accidents. Road markings - make them generally in nature so that drivers can see them at night and in bad weather. Sometimes these are either not maintained and faded, or they are not created correctly, leading to confusion and accidents. Road surfaces - should be used to generate this alert drivers or perform a different action. You should not serve a driver control ability, their vehicle hinder. Shoulder - should be a road with a shoulder, and a pretty wide. Roads, which can have no shoulder grab a car tires and run it from the ground run. Signage - signs, which may be not properly illuminated or placed far enough in advance that increase risk of car accidents because drivers are not properly prepared, is for what is ahead. Automated traffic control - traffic light, flashing yellow lights and warning lights should be placed, where drivers can see and far enough in advance for the riders, their message to respond.Increased water binding - can to a certain part of a ground water and pool due to poor drainage can lead design. The result can, so that the driver loses control of the vehicle a model hydroplane.

Other roadway designs, if properly designed and applied to the right pane, can very effectively for the creation of less congestion, better traffic flow, better visibility and less accidents. A roadway design, which is implemented in Georgia, which is the reduction of accidents in certain areas the roundabout. There are currently over 572 roundabouts in the United States there have been studies in 2008 on 55 crossings everywhere in the United States before and after the roundabouts were installed.

This is what showed the study:

Was it a total 35 percent decrease in crashes. It was a 76% reduction in crashes, the injuries. It was an 81 percent reduction in fatal crashes for single lane urban roundabouts. It was a 71 percent reduction in fatal crashes for single lane rural roundabouts.

There are many advantages to install roundabouts:

Instead of high speed, a roundabout is acute angle collisions, the 75% fewer conflict points has, typically slow low angle collisions. They require less maintenance in the long run, because they contain no traffic lights, which must be maintained in the course of time. You have been proven safer than regular crossings.

Georgia Department of transportation has a roundabout actually policy. It was recently revised to multi-lane roundabouts, allow and it requires that applies the circles in all new or reconstruction projects for existing intersections that need safer and for all intersections where traffic lights are required.

Georgia residents can see much, displayed more of these roundabouts in the State. They, like every other system road, properly be interpreted to be sure. Even the best intentions can go bad and car accidents can occur. Sometimes, this car crashes Georgia are no fault of their own but due to the poor road design. San Francisco pedestrian accident violation underlines the urgent need for street safety

San Francisco pedestrian accident violation underlines the urgent need for street safety

Posted on Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

This morning, Wednesday May 25, pedestrians and killed by a vehicle at the corner of Pierce and Lombard Street in San Francisco's Marina district. San Francisco Police Department spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield saw the 30-year-old driver, not the pedestrian before the collision place found, but was not shown, driving under the influence of alcohol. This tragic death follows a string of pedestrian accidents to Masonic Avenue, which led to the improvement of pedestrian safety along this road plan $20 million, and stressed the need for additional pedestrian safety plans in San Francisco.

A new report by transportation for America, a coalition of the planning and transit groups, found that pedestrian accidents more than four times the national average include more than 50 percent of the entire San of Francisco's people killed,. That's terrible record, and the city of San Francisco serious steps should to make roads safer. "The report points out that in San Francisco, as in the entire County, arterial roads are deadly, kills speed and relatively low investments in the pedestrian zone make improvements on our roads neighborhoods in our city of safer, more pleasant places to walk" said Elizabeth Stampe, executive Director of the pedestrian safety organization WalkSF.

Part of the problem is San Francisco's high number of wide streets, which easily brings exceeding speed limits, drivers often pedestrians at risk makes sense. Implementation of plans such as Masonic Avenue Boulevard plan to reduce speeds in the city also their price value would be if it pedestrian accidents like the one this morning in the Lombard and Pierce streets in the Marina reduced.
