Bellevue Car Crash Lawyer | Motorcycle Crash on West Seattle Bridge Turns Fatal
AppId is over the quota
As a Seattle motorcycle accident attorney, I know that riding a motorcycle can be more hazardous than driving a car; aside from lacking the basic safety features of cars such as seat belts and air bags, taking evasive action on a motorcycle can sometimes cause the driver to wreck even while avoiding the original accident. On Tuesday morning, Bradly Gilmore crashed his motorcycle on the West Seattle Bridge, while commuting to work in Bellevue, as reported by the Seattle Times. In an attempt to avoid a collision with a car that was changing lanes, he broke heavily on his rear wheel, locked the wheel and was taken to Harborview Medical Center with head and facial injuries. Mr. Gilmore died from the injuries Wednesday morning at Harborview, leaving behind a wife and four children.
Unfortunately, accidents like this one are not isolated incidents; over 4000 motorcyclists are killed annually across the country according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Without the metal body and safety features of a car, a motorcyclist’s primary protection is his or her awareness of the situation, and ability to react to the unexpected. Each of these incidents leaves behind an entire family with grief over the unexpected loss of a loved one, but also with medical bills and the loss of income from the person they lost. The devastation that the family may experience will require a great deal of time to cope with, and in many cases the income from the deceased may be irreplaceable, leaving the family in dire financial straits.
No one can replace the void that appears in the life of a family when someone is lost suddenly and unexpectedly. If you have lost a loved one in a motorcycle wreck, you need someone to protect your financial health and legal interests while you focus on your family during this painful time. Jason Epstein is a dynamic, compassionate Bellevue motorcycle accident attorney who can work to protect your rights while your family heals from its emotional wounds. Recent Auto-Bicycle Accident Turns Deadly in Cook County
AppId is over the quota
Bicycling in your neighborhood or to work should be an enjoyable, stress-free activity. But for a man in Cook County, Illinois, and for thousands of other bike riders, careless or negligent drivers can cause a serious injury or death. In late July, a 79-year-old man was cycling two blocks from his home in suburban Maywood when he was hit by an automobile shortly after 8 p.m. Within an hour he passed away at Loyola University Medical Center.
According to BIKESAFE, most automobile-bicycle accidents occur in the summer months of June, July, and August between 5 and 9 p.m. Through its case studies, BIKESAFE, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Transportation, found that auto-bicycle accidents are most often caused by a driver who:
fails to yield at an intersection light
fails to yield at a stop sign
drives out mid-block or mid-driveway
turns left or right into a bicycle path
tries to overtake a bicycle
An estimated 53,000 injuries occur every year from auto-bicycle accidents and two percent of them are fatal. Cyclists must be mindful to wear helmets, obey traffic laws, and be aware of vehicles around them. In urban areas in and around Chicago, cyclists also have to be cautious with drivers going high speeds. Poor sight distance, speeds that make it harder to brake quickly, and traffic jams can increase the chances of an accident. Injuries can also occur when bicycles ride next to parked vehicles and a door is opened unexpectedly. And in the case of the Cook County senior, riding at dusk and into the night hours can cause visibility problems. Cyclists should be sure to use rear reflectors, pulsing lights, and other bright gear when they ride at night.
Automobile-bicycle accidents can cause serious brain injuries, even when cyclists are struck by vehicles going 35 mph or less. Back and limb injuries are also very common. When an accident like this occurs, the driver’s car insurance is responsible for your medical expenses. The Chicago bicycle accident lawyers at Briskman Briskman & Greenberg have helped many accident victims recover compensation for their medical bills, pain and suffering, future care, and lost wages. They are also experienced in guiding loved ones in a wrongful death lawsuit. September 17, 2011 - According to reports a Reno Nevada air show turned deadly, when a World War II era fighter plane crashed, killing three people and injuring over 50 other spectators, with flying debris from the plane.
According to officials of the National Championship Air Race, it is believed that a mechanical failure is what caused the P-51 Mustang named and piloted by Jimmy Leeward the Galloping Ghost to crash.
According to Air Races President Mike Houghton the plan was on course, prior to the malfunction, though there have been people reporting to have seen different things.
Authorities have stated that three people were killed during the crash including the pilot 74 year old Jimmy Leeward, a real estate developer from Ocala Florida. There were over 56 people injured and transported to local hospitals, with 15 being listed in critical condition and 13 listed in serious condition.
Authorities have also stated the number of injuries could increase with some people having left in their own vehicles, rather than being transported by ambulance to area hospitals.
According to eyewitness Gerald Lent, the plan pulled straight up and then did an upside down roll, coming straight downward toward the grandstand. Lent said, it appeared that there was no one flying the plane.
According to Ben Cissell, the plane crashed approximately 100 feet from where he was seated, but believes that Leeward pulled the plane up, which saved between 200 and 300 spectators from being injured or killed.
Spectator Kim Fonda says that Leeward was a hero for pulling the plane up at the last minute, causing it to crash about 25 feet from where people were seated. Renown Medical Center stated they received 27 patients and 12 have been listed in critical condition, two patients, a man and woman have died.
St. Mary’s Hospital has stated it received 25 patients, but the spokesman did not release the patient’s conditions. Muni bus fatal in the past accidents settlements have cost the city millions lawsuit, and far too many San Francisco have claimed mainly the life-based. Over the weekend, new urbanites Emily Dunn was defeated and killed by a Muni bus in the city of Castro. The police report pointed out that Dunn was hit 95% in the crosswalk of a Muni bus makes a left turn, an action that is called often as unsafe.
Earlier this year Muni agreed a record settlement of $5,36 million of the family by David Wheeler, a racing cyclist, who was killed at a Muni in nearby ocean beach. According to the documents, in the San Francisco Superior Court of the Muni drop operator Roy Timmons failed to stop, before you are links and took an unusually tight RADIUS. The description of this accident is equivalent to Dunn's collision over the weekend.
The bus has plagued by an unusually large number accidents that round left by dangerous Portland, Oregon. Last year, the Oregonian, reported that although links train accidents were "alarming", the city refused, a "no links"-policy. And last December, a group of five Portland residents launched a $30 million lawsuit against Portland TriMet bus system, after a bus to the left in a busy street, with two people killed and three more. The accident said plaintiffs called the TriMet "a culture within the TriMet safe and defensive driving as the top place and approved priority priority."
San Francisco should learn from the tragedy last weekend and implement measures to reduce the links rounds on all Muni vehicles dangerous. If successfully completed, would reduce the links switches save the city in legal costs and more important is a bundle, save promising San Francisco-based.
