Huntington Beach Infant, Toddler and Father Injured In Crosswalk by Motorist

September 27, 2011 - According to reports a father, infant and toddler were injured at a Huntington Beach crosswalk by a motorist on Monday afternoon.
According to Huntington Beach Fire Department Deputy Fire Marshal Jeff Lopez, the accident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. at Central Park Drive and Edwards Street.
Huntington Beach Police Department Lt. Mike Reynolds said that investigators believe the man and two children were struck while in the crosswalk, by a motorist making a left hand turn onto the northbound lane of Edwards Street.
Lt. Reynolds stated the accident occurred at a four way stop, where the driver is believed not to have seen the pedestrians crossing from east to west on Edwards Street.
The father was holding a one year old at the time they were struck and a three year old was on a tricycle, Lt. Reynolds said. The father and one year old rolled over the hood of the vehicle sustaining minor injuries, including bruises.
The vehicle reached the top of the tricycle injuring the three year old that was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, according to Lt. Reynolds. Huntington Beach Police stated that a helicopter was placed on standby, but was later canceled. The father and two children were transported to UCI Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of their injuries.
According to Huntington Beach Police investigators the accident remains under investigation, including why the driver failed to see the man carrying the one year old infant and the three year old on the tricycle. 600 Anton Boulevard 11th Fl.
