Pacific Coast Highway Closed for Hours After Deadly Ferrari Crash

September 18, 2011 - According to reports a Ferrari crash on Pacific Coast Highway caused one death and closed the highway for hours.

According to police the accident was reported at approximately 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning in the vicinity north of Sunset Boulevard.

Police are unsure what caused the accident, causing the Ferrari crash into a power pole ejecting two men from the vehicle and falling a cliff approximately 30 feet to a beach area below, cutting the car in two.

According to the Los Angeles Fired Department, a passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities and paramedics transported another passenger to UCLA Medical Center. The person taken to the hospital has been listed in critical condition.
Part of the Pacific Coast Highway was closed for several hours in both directions, after the crash brought down power lines.
The fatal Ferrari crash remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division. The names of the occupants in the vehicle have not been released and the cause of the accident has not been determined, by authorities.
