Woman Crashes SUV with Six Children—Arrested for DUI

September 26, 2011-According to reports a mother has been arrested by driving under the influence after a rollover SUV crash with six children in the vehicle.

According to authorities Staneha Allen was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a rollover crash that occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m. Sunday. Three of the children were Allen’s, two are foster children and one is a niece that suffered injuries.

The SUV rollover crash occurred in the eastbound lane of East Avenue when Allen lost control of the 2002 Toyota Sequoia that flipped over four times, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The rollover crash caused some of the children to be ejected from the vehicle. Four of six children, ranging in age from 10 months to 11 years, were injured in the crash, with two being treated and released from the hospital. Two of the children are still hospitalized, with one of them being listed in critical condition. Reportedly Allen’s foster son age 22 months suffered severe head trauma and an amputated foot and her 4 year old daughter suffered severe traumatic head injuries and is still in critical condition.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Joshua Wupperfield, Allen had attended a wedding and had picked up the children from a caretaker the morning of the crash. Authorities are still determining if the children were wearing seatbelts at the time of the rollover crash.

According to the California Highway Patrol Allen who holds a commercial drivers license and works as a bus driver was expected to be booked for driving under the influence after being released from the hospital.  The SUV rollover attorney at Ehline Law Firm PC will be providing updates on issues of liability and damages as the facts pan out.
