Motorcyclist Suffers Life Threatening Injuries in Solo Crash

September 22, 2011 - According to reports a female motorcyclist involved in a solo crash suffered life threatening injuries. According to the California Highway Patrol a solo motorcycle crash occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Highway 20, east of the Rough and Ready Highway intersection.

According to Penn Valley Fire Department Capt. Josh Miller the female motorcyclist is identified as a 52 year old woman was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson that she lost control of and was ejected from the bike.

Capt. Miller said the woman was flung approximately 50 feet from the motorcycle and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The 52 year old suffered major head trauma in the crash and was transported by helicopter to Sutter Roseville Memorial Hospital
According to the California Highway Patrol Highway 20 was closed in both directions for approximately 15 minutes while the helicopter landed and transported the motorcyclist to the hospital.

They have stated that the woman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but it has not been determined if it was an approved helmet or a vanity helmet.
