We have written safety for older drivers, after the loss of vision, motor skills or intellectual capacity, much about the car. But a current Los Angeles Times report should be noted that senior citizens are also at risk of road accidents outside their car. Last month "Dangerous by design" study of fatalities from 2000 to 2009 included seniors in fact a disproportionate 22 per cent of the pedestrian deaths, at the same time to 13% of the population. This morning, a group of San Francisco senior citizens, accidents pedestrian area bring with the attention to senior planning a road safety event named "Deathrace 2011."

DeathRace will take place at 10: 30 today morning at the corner of third and Yosemite Street in San Francisco Bayview neighborhood. The same applies here in San Francisco, and DeathRace plans to stress that officials should plan the streets of the city of safety for all ages.

We have seen far to many San Francisco deaths pedestrian zone in the first months of the year 2011. I hope that the senior attention urgently needed action network DeathRace 2011 reducing pedestrian deaths for all ages including seniors will bring.

The key of senior drivers take is a tough decision, which often caused conflict between family members and friends. But scientists and safety advocates have repeatedly shown that age, people often lose the motor skills and remain intellectual ability to alert behind the wheel. In this sense a new report by the American psychological found Association, that driving errors increase with age both for dangerous drivers and those with a previously impeccable record. So you speak with your parent or friend senior drivers about the dangers of driving on the reduced motor skills.

The study asked 266 driver between 70 and 88, the alone drive life a week once, and show no signs of dementia to drive a 12-miles city with professional driving instructors mark their error rate. State legislators should so instead of passing ceiling laws against senior drivers, laws adopted, the drivers for sight and motor skills screen, before their license is renewed.
