I got asked this question the other day on a radio interview:

What is the best type of personal injury client for BenGlassLaw?

My answer:

The best personal injury client for our law firm is someone who takes the hiring of a personal injury attorney very seriously. They aren't trolling the yellow pages and hiring the first lawyer who answers the phone. The are asking questions about national board certification, substantial verdict and settlement experience and specialization in persona injury law. In short, they take their time before deciding. These clients tend to have the more serious cases requiring more expertise and experience then someone who does personal injury law as an "add-on."

An interesting call got recently. A customer who is a medical surgeon, includes good motor skills still plays the handicap golf. (The is OK, not the safety of patients hit a golf ball into the forest impaired! 0)

He has a claim with a large disability insurance company. The field rep to visit around came and asked golf. The client answer appropriately and truthfully.

The investigator said disability ", which say exactly what these golf results!"

Pretty scary stuff. Her life is an open book.

Einen interessanten Aufruf bekam vor kurzem. Ein Kunde, der eine medizinische Chirurg ist, die Behinderung umfasst gut motorische Fähigkeiten noch spielt Golf. (Das ist OK, schlagen einen Golfball in den Wald beeinträchtigt nicht die Sicherheit der Patienten! 0

Er hat einen Anspruch mit einer großen Behinderung-Versicherungs-Gesellschaft. Die Feld-Rep für einen Besuch herum kam und Golf gefragt. Der Client beantwortet entsprechend und wahrheitsgemäß.

Der Versuchsleiter Behinderung sagte ", die genau was sagen diese Golf-Resultate!"

"Clients at any time reserve the right, consult your own selection." This right includes the right to raise and to replace their lawyers at any time. Under this law a client may find in another lawyer on the case at EB make an informed decision, whether a change is justified the lawyer. Comment to rule 4.2 makes it clear that it speak for a lawyer with a represented party with regard to that person legal matter is improper. Of course, lawyer from such contact would be prohibited if he represented a different party in the matter. You remember Stephen Conrad? He is the Woodbridge lawyer who settled in apparently hundreds of claims without the proper authority.  Worse, he often kept the settlement proceeds for themselves.  He sits has for example, and time in jail.

Many Conrad's had little luck former customers, when you try to recover compensation for their cases.  Many decisions have been made, that the settlements reached with the insurance companies are binding.  These decisions were based on Conrad's "apparent authority" negotiations with insurers.

The last case went against this trend.  Loudoun County Circuit Judge Thomas Horne decided a plaintiff to make progress with his auto accident case allow, although Conrad had made a previous agreement.  Judge CITES Horne a 1926 Supreme Court of Virginia decision, which explains that in order to "apparent authority" have the client, the Attorney has something more than just rent.

Conrad had 2004 handled the car accident claim to $18,000 in 2006.  The case will now continue.

This is the second decision by Virginia judge where Conrad's former customers continued their demands.  Prince William County Circuit Court Judge William D. Some people believe us, if we write in five deadly sins, can wreck your Virginia car accident case, that one with your doctor getting a referral from your lawyer bad thing.

It was the case with a car accident for a plaintiff in the last Virginia.

The judge that the lawyer of the referral is made and then later to the correct report of the Court of Justice found, failed.

The judge had to testify not the doctor.

This is really bad news.
