The FMCSA and the trucking industry knows how dangerous sleep apnea for truck drivers. The FMCSA is here:

Means to stay awake to stay alive. Sleep apnea is instrumental in daytime drowsiness - a condition for commercial truck drivers and everyone who share the road with them deadly may be. Sleep disorders, it is a condition where, a constriction or occlusion of the upper respiratory tract caused during sleep, repeated, leading to poor quality of sleep and excessive daytime sleepiness. Since excessive sleepiness of the driver can impact ability which allowed safely work the commercial, it is important that drivers with sleep apnea are aware of warning signs.

Research arm of the American Trucking Association (ATA), American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), does it mean that sleep apnea exists in almost 1 / 3 of commercial drivers and contributes to the wreck.
